USNC/IEC Constituent Training Resources

The USNC/IEC has made
a commitment to provide education and training resources for its members in
order to increase the effectiveness of U.S. stakeholders in their standards
activities and participation.

Overview
These training
modules provide resources that help standards and conformity assessment
professionals within the electrotechnical industry effectively navigate the
myriad processes and procedures of international standards development
programs, primarily as these are related to work in the U.S. National Committee
and in the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). These programs do not include technical
training or courses on specific standards.
Target Audience
Corporate standards personnel, members, officers and
administrators of international standards committees, subject matter
experts/technical experts and accredited delegates to international meetings,
USNC-approved U.S. TAG members, Technical Advisors, officers and
administrators.

Additional Training Resources
An Instructor Led Training course entitled “The Development of Globally Relevant Standards” was debuted in August of 2006.
The next Instructor Led Courses are scheduled for April 18, 2007 and June 27, 2007.
Further registration information will be provided to the USNC Constituency in coming months.
This is a fee-based program consisting of approximately 2.5 hours of instructor-led training conducted via the Internet and a telephone connection.
The four distance learning modules identified above are considered prerequisites for the instructor-led program.

consists of two e-learning courses (as of February 2005)
Why Standards Matter
ANSI’s first
introductory level e-learning course is for those who may not be familiar with
standards, ANSI or the U.S. voluntary standards and conformity assessment
systems.
U.S. Standards – Today and Tomorrow
This course focuses
on the U.S. national standards systems and is an intermediate-level course that
supplements basic standards education. It provides more in-depth knowledge
about the development, role and impact of domestic standards on government,
business, trade and professional associations, and includes a module for university
faculty and students.
A third course on the
development, promulgation and use of international standards is now being
prepared; the new course is expected by mid-year 2005.
